Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineers are experts in the creation of machines and mechanical systems of all types, and in the transmission, conversion, and utilization of energy.
At Kettering, we graduate great MEs. One of the largest of its kind in the nation, Kettering’s program is also one of the best engineering programs in the nation. Why does it stand out?

- Small classes that are challenging and leading-edge (for example, check out the one-of-a-kind class called Vehicular Crash Dynamics and Accident Reconstruction and a state of the art Fuel Cell Research Center);
- Early and continuous professional experience through our co-op education program, which offers so much more than a typical internship or part-time job;
- State-of-the-art experimental and computational laboratory experiences that run throughout the curriculum;
- Work with faculty who are experts in intriguing areas, such as low-intensity electrical neurostimulation on fibromyalgia patients and high-speed propulsion; and
- Opportunities to study abroad without missing a term of the Mechanical Engineering program.
Four specialities are available:
You may also minor in Fuel Cells & Hybrids, or pursue a dual degree in Industrial Engineering & Mechanical Engineering—a choice that will enhance your marketability in the real world.
