Travel & Re-entry

Whenever you leave the United States take all documents you will need to re-enter.

Valid passport containing your most recent U.S. visa. If you have obtained a new passport since you arrived in the U.S., you must always take the new and old passport containing your U.S. visa when traveling outside the U.S. Your passport must be valid at least six months into the future on the day you return to the U.S. from another country.

Check your U.S. entry visa (which is stamped in your passport) to be sure that it is valid for additional entries.  If not, you will need to get a new entry visa from a U.S. consulate or embassy while you are outside the U.S.  Financial documentation will be required.

It may be difficult to obtain a visa in a country other than your home country.

Signature of designated official/responsible officer on I-20 or DS2019, dated within the last year, for travel validation (Celia Bandl in International Office Rm 3-901 CC, Michelle Vyskocil, Registrar  Rm. 3-309 AB or Bob Nichols V.P. Enrollment Management  Rm 4-100 CC)

Take a copy of your transcript and class registration for next term.

If you are traveling to a location other than your home country you may need a visa to enter.  If you are changing planes in another country before your final destination you may need an in-transit visa.  For more information contact the International Office or that country's embassy or consulate well ahead of your planned trip.
