Course Description:

At first glance, a Mobile-Multimedia (MMM) systems include cutting-edge technologies like GPS, voice-recognition, and network-based multimedia delivery, successful designers will capitalize on new features and services made available only by combining these technologies with other automotive components and the unique environment of a vehicle interior and road-system infrastructure.  This course provides an introduction to technologies in MMM systems.  Topics include a review of in-vehicle networks, relevent audio, image and video requirements and processing and introduce system-level issues in mobile multimedia systems.

 

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Identify and understand key technologies and system-level considerations for mobile multimedia systems.

2. Evaluate bit rates required by services such as speech, audio, and video systems

3. Evaluate the technical and business-case trade-off between high compression versus high bandwidth designs
