Green Week Speaker - June 6, 2008

For Kettering’s Green Week, SAC collaborated with Kettering Entrepreneur Society (KES) and Green Engineering Organization (GEO) to present Peggy Garrigues-Cortlyou. She was trained by Al Gore to present the slide show An Inconvenient Truth, which talks about the dangers of global warming.

Senior III Luau - June 3, 2008

Over 50 students gathered at Dr. Liberty's home for the Senior III Luau June 3rd.  In spite of the downpour, the food was great, the speaker informative, and the warm wishes extended to students by Dr. and Mrs. Liberty priceless.

Advisor Deb Schnettler '00 with speaker Ben Coon '00 who is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He holds a J.D. degree from Wayne State University Law School and a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute (now Kettering University).  Prior to graduating law school, Mr. Coon clerked for Carlson, Gaskey & Olds.  Mr. Coon practices in all aspects of intellectual property matters, focusing primarily on patent prosecution and litigation.  Ben's advise to students 1. travel- take advantage of every opportunity to travel abroad and learn 2. set goals and have a plan how to make them happen and last 3. Have fun at what you do.

SAC Honors Speakers - May 13, 2008

SAC honored its past yearly speakers at the SE Michigan Chapter Annual Dinner on May 13 at the San Marino Club. Over 100 alumni and guests gathered to hear keynote speaker Mark Wallace who is the Vice-President International Engineering from UPS.

Al Arens '62 Presents "Continuous Lifelong Learning" - May, 2008

Al Arens a 1962 graduate of GMI talked with students regarding "Continuous Lifelong Learning." Mr. Arens has authored the book Integrity: Balancing Mind, Body, and Spirit. He encouraged students to listen, get involve, and sharpen their communication skills.

Guardian Industries Visit - May, 2008

SAC visits Guardian Industries. President Russell Ebeid ' 62 invited Student Alumni Council to lunch and a tour of its Auburn Hills location. The group watched a video on how the company has grown and expanded since the early 1930's.

6th Annual Kettering Graduate Fair - April 24, 2008

Jeff Haladik, current SAC President, and Bjorn Oxos, VP of Alumni Relations, man the registration table for the 6th Annual Kettering University Graduate Fair hosted by Student Alumni Council and the Kettering Graduate Office. Over 30 schools were represented at the annual Graduate Fair including Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern, Lawrence Tech., Oakland, Wayne State to name a few.

SAE Reception - April 15, 2008

 

Over 90 alumni, students and SAE members attended the SAE Reception on April 15 at the Detroit Athletic Club. In addition to the great food, awesome company and a fantastic networking opportunity, Dr. Liberty gave a brief update on the University.
