Computing Facilities at Kettering University

"The purpose of computing is insight, not numbers." _ R.W. Hamming

Kettering University has several computing laboratories housing many state-of-the-art UNIX and PC-based servers and workstations. These facilities provide a full range of compilers, powerful mathematical and statistical analysis programs, graphics programs, computer-aided graphics, and word processing and spreadsheet programs.

Most of Kettering University's computing labs are accessible to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most dorms, fraternities, and sororities also have computers connected to Kettering University's intranet.

Applied Mathematics Computer Lab

In addition to the existing computing labs, recently the mathematics discipline at Kettering University was awarded nearly two-hundred thousand dollars to develop a state-of-the-art Pentium®-based PC lab. This computing lab

houses 37 Pentium-3®-based PCs, each running at 866 MHz with 256 Megabytes of RAM,
will be used for mathematics instruction in the calculus sequence and possibly subsequent courses,
has two state-of-the-art projection systems for clear teacher-student interaction,
contains powerful mathematics and statistics software that will be foundational to many mathematics and engineering courses,
is accessible to students on a drop-in basis (except when reserved for classroom use),
is connected to a local network and to the internet.
